Caring for Color

Protect your investment.

Styling

Turn the temperature down! Never go above 375° on those hot tools. Anything higher than 380° can cause your hair color to fade and cause damage to your hair. Also, make sure you are ALWAYS using a heat protectant to prevent damage and prolong the life of your color. If you want more in depth details, message me.

As needed, use dry shampoo to extend your hair wash routine and some oil on your midlengths and ends to keep your hair hydrated. Brush both products through to evenly distribute.

Sleeping with your hair in a braid or heatless curls style (when dry) will not only prevent breakage while sleeping, but will also preserve your style, resulting in less need to use hot tools.

It is best to wash your hair 2-3 times a week. Make sure that you are shampooing at least twice, until the shampoo is super sudsy and almost doubles in bubbles.

Using a deep conditioning mask or treatment is recommended every 1-2 weeks. For my vivids, this could be a great time to use a custom-mixed mask to refresh your color! Ask me how you can get this before your next appointment.

Wash Routine

And why I push for you to use Eufora. In most products from the drugstore, the fir. st ingredient is water. This means that over 80% of that product is just water. Why need so much? The products are packed full of harmful detergents and chemicals, thus needing the water to dilute them. Having products full of water means you need much more to get that sudsy feeling when shampooing and to make sure your scalp is really clean.

The water in the DFW area has a pH of 9. This means that when your hair gets wet, the cuticle on the hair pries open, allowing your new color to escape. To prevent this, use a product, like Eufora, that actively works to seal your cuticle in the shower. How does this work? Eufora products live at a pH of 4.5-5.5, which is the same pH as your hair.

But Eufora is expensive, right? Okay but so was your investment of color. Wouldn’t you want to extend the longevity of your hair? Eufora products are a bit of an investment up front, but since you don’t use as much product, you don’t have to purchase it as often. You can go months without restocking, whereas you have to replace your drugstore shampoo every month.
